Dr. Sheela Nambiar MD is an Obstetrician-Gynecologist, A Fitness Consultant and a board certified Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner.
Dr. Nambiar graduated from Madras Medical College and went on to do her post graduation in ObGyn from Manipal University.
She is a practicing Obstetrician Gynecologist at Parvathy Medical Center in Ooty.
In 1999 she certified as a Fitness & Lifestyle Consultant from NAFC – National Association of Fitness Certification, USA and started using Fitness & Lifestyle as an extension of her medication for ‘preventive care’. She founded her Wellness program called Training For Life or TFL in the year 2000, which she implements through her hospital in Ooty, through her fitness center, The TFL Fitness Studio and through Westminster Healthcare in Chennai.
She trained in Positive Psychology through the University of Pennsylvania and uses Positive Psychology as an additional counseling tool for her patients.
She is a certified Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner through the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine – BSLM.
Through her wellness program, TFL, she treats obesity, PCOS, infertility, depression, musculoskeletal dysfunction and various other lifestyle diseases using Fitness, Lifestyle Medicine and Positive Psychology.
Dr. Nambiar has been a regular contributor to a series of Health and Fitness articles for the national newspaper, The Hindu for over ten years. She also writes regularly for The Rotary News magazine, the Mumbai Mirror, Indulge, Online forums and her own blog – sheelanambiar.wordpress.com
Dr. Nambiar has authored three books to date.
