She is also the author of ‘Discover the 3 P’s for a Powerful Life – Find the truth in your Pain, purpose, and Person’.
Dr. Michael received her medical degree from the University of Kerala and worked in various mission hospitals in India before going on to work for the NHS in England. After personal illness and its subsequent healing journey, she developed a great interest in using Lifestyle and other natural approaches to health problems. She then moved to Sydney to pursue her Master’s at Sydney University’s Charles Perkins Centre (CPC), a research and education hub which mainly focusses on lifestyle diseases.
Dr. Jacqueline Michael’s greatest contribution to the Lifestyle Medicine movement is her 7 Rainbow Rules for Health and Longevity which teach the key determinants for a long and healthy life. By incorporating Community Health Education along with Lifestyle Medicine she has shown how to create change in cultural mindsets. When she realised that South Asians develop diabetes and heart diseases far earlier and with more severe consequences than their western counterparts and that this rising trend, especially in India, could be addressed by a cultural shift in lifestyle alone Dr. Jacqueline moved to Kerala, the Indian hotspot for heart disease and early diabetes and conceived the Rainbow Project.
The Rainbow Project’s aim is to bring about a cultural change for healthier living. As a part of this, she gives print media interviews to educate the public on the impact of lifestyle on health, conducts HEAL for Teens, a health and lifestyle education program for high school students which aims to prevent NCD’s in our younger generation and runs a Lifestyle center called HEAL Clinic. She also does a program called Lifestyle, for Shalom TV to educate viewers on how to make the right lifestyle choices for a healthy life.
Dr. Michael also serves on the Advisory panel of an Indian health start-up called Invest on Health which delivers technology enhanced therapeutic lifestyle change programs. She believes that mass health and lifestyle education coupled with governmental initiatives will help bring about a cultural change that will reduce the incidence of non-communicable preventable diseases and early deaths in communities around the world.
Dr. Michael is an engaging and insightful speaker who is one of the founding members as well as Assistant Secretary of the Indian Society Lifestyle Medicine (ISLM). She also serves as Education Committee member for the Asian Society of Lifestyle Medicine (ASLM).
