New Health Care Law in the Philippines – 2019
The Pinoy Edmonton News reported President Rodrigo R. Duterte signed on Wednesday last week the Universal Health Care Act. It will enroll all Filipinos automatically under the government’s health insurance program.
Filipinos will receive free medical consultations, tests in Laboratories and other diagnosis services. The new law will include also all overseas Filipino workers. They will be enrolled to PhilHeath too.
The new Heath Care Law in the Philippines will improve the doctor-to-patient ratio. Better capacities in hospitals and expanding medical services as well as establishing hospitals in remote areas are planned.
The signing had been welcome by the World Health Organization WHO. It is a “critical step towards health for all Filipinos.” It sees it as an “excellent proof of commitment to improving access to high quality health services at least cost to families.”
